Position Summary
The Business Development Manager: Paper and Packaging Contract role is primarily responsible for driving the expansion of agricultural fibre-based pulp and paper production capacity in India. You will identify and implement strategies to engage stakeholders in the paper and packaging sectors, conduct critical policy and market analyses, and coordinate pilot projects to assess innovative solutions. This position will cultivate strategic relationships, inform Canopy’s regional strategy, and play a pivotal role in reducing pressure on Ancient and Endangered forests while advancing our conservation goals.
The focus of the 6-month contract is on the following key deliverables:
- Conduct a policy analysis through interviews with key government and industry players to assess which policy levers could support the expansion of ag-fibre pulping capacity in India.
- Secure and coordinate key paperboard pilot tests to evaluate cost and performance
- Recruit India-based paper packaging companies to include product in our EcoPaper Database.
- Conduct a series of interviews with non-wood mills in high-feedstock areas to assess core business requirements and opportunities for building out additional ag-fibre pulp and paper line.
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years experience in teh paper/packaging industry with connections to senior leadership in the industry
- Previous experience in a sales, market analysis, research, and/or consulting role
- Strategic mindset, capable of developing and implementing plans to achieve organizational goals.
- Proven ability to work independently, maintain an acute attention to detail, and to drive projects to completion with minimum guidance/oversight.
- Adaptable and quick to capitalize on emerging opportunities.
- A track record of achieving measurable results and goals.
- Positive attitude, creativity, and ability to think strategically and innovatively.
- Embrace a "Yes, AND..." mindset to foster innovation and collaboration.
